Written in an ABA symphonic style with traces of jazz elements, "Radiance" utilizes the complete 5 octave range. The tender beginning eventually moves toward a highly syncopated section that embraces the rich dynamic capabilities of handbells. The return to the opening melodies is treated with sweeping sonorities in both the lower and upper octaves. The work includes various techniques available to the handbell ringer including suspended bells struck by mallets, and the echo ring.
