This original work by Daniel Ujifusa is creative, fluid, and mesmerizing.  Techniques include singing bell, sixteenth-note LV patterns, Sk, Ring and RT, plus malleted notes which all join to create a tone poem beautifully representative of a mountain stream and waterfalls. This is a marvelous work for moderately-advanced groups to add to their concert repertoire! Daniel shared his inspiration:

In Waterfalls, I imagine myself on a walk to see a great waterfall. The first half of the piece is all about the journey, walking through caves with the thundering of flowing water all around. Throughout this section, the 16th note ostinato is passed throughout different parts, building a sense of excitement until the climactic moment when the rhythmic texture breaks and the full spectacle of the waterfall is unveiled. Following this big moment, the piece moves into a peaceful section that I see as a walk along a calm stream. Here, thematic material from the beginning returns in a new way, reflecting on the experience.
