Winter Lullaby was originally written for a 3-octave handbell choir and then expanded to include 4 and 5 octaves.This piece may be used for the winter season or the title could be altered to "Summer Lullaby" or "Autumn Lullaby." Notes from the composer: "There were two thoughts that led to this composition. One was a reflection of my dear cousin, Lynda, who passed away on a winter day. The other was reminiscing about the time when my own children were growing up and we would read together at bedtime. We would share stories and imagine many different scenarios. From these ideas came a gentle melody with reflective thoughts." Winter Lullaby was the winner of the Alberta Guild of English Handbell Ringers' Fred Merrett Award for New Compositions in 2023.
